BUS 1300 · Principles of Finance
Asset valuation: stock and bond valuation, capital budgeting, cost of capital, market efficiency, and company valuation.
Vanderbilt doesn't have an undergraduate business major, so most undergrads meet finance through the business minor's Principles of Finance or through Financial Economics courses. At Owen, Managerial Finance is part of the MBA core.

Asset valuation: stock and bond valuation, capital budgeting, cost of capital, market efficiency, and company valuation.
The core finance course that builds financial analysis skills for managers.
Without a business major, many students meet accounting and finance for the first time in the same year. We fill in what the course assumes.
Valuing a whole company pulls together every earlier chapter. It's where gaps from the start of the course show up.
It's a short topic with a lot of subtle exam questions. We work through the logic until it makes sense.
Send me what you're stuck on: a problem set, slides, your last midterm, a practice exam, last week's quiz.
You walk me through a problem out loud. It usually takes a few minutes to hear where the reasoning goes sideways. We fix that piece and rebuild from there, so you know why each step works.
The real test: a fresh problem with new numbers and different wording, the way a midterm would ask it, and you solve it yourself. I don't complete assignments or hand over answers. You leave able to do the work.

Yes. Send me the syllabus for the course you're in and we'll start there.
Yes. We can work on Managerial Finance or finance electives.
Tutoring on concepts and practice problems is generally fine, but policies on graded work vary by course. I don't complete graded assignments. Check your syllabus's collaboration policy, and if you're unsure, ask your professor.
Tell me your course and what isn’t clicking. I’ll tell you honestly whether I can help.
