FINC 2101 · Business Financial Management
What financial managers do, how financial markets work, the analysis tools, and corporate financial decisions.
Business Financial Management is the foundation course for McDonough undergrads, and finance majors go on to Corporate Valuation, which is hands-on and detailed. The first course has to be solid for the second to make sense.

Bring your slides, problem sets, and your last midterm. We work from your actual course.
What financial managers do, how financial markets work, the analysis tools, and corporate financial decisions.
The core principles and detailed mechanics of valuing a business, with hands-on valuation exercises.
Everything in Business Financial Management builds on it. If it's shaky, later chapters feel like memorization.
Corporate Valuation expects you to build the model yourself. We work on the steps until you can do them without a template.
Financial analysis depends on reading statements quickly. We practice until the ratios tell you something.
Send me what you're stuck on: a problem set, slides, your last midterm, a practice exam, last week's quiz.
You walk me through a problem out loud. It usually takes a few minutes to hear where the reasoning goes sideways. We fix that piece and rebuild from there, so you know why each step works.
The real test: a fresh problem with new numbers and different wording, the way a midterm would ask it, and you solve it yourself. I don't complete assignments or hand over answers. You leave able to do the work.

Yes. A review of free cash flow, discount rates, and statements makes the first weeks much smoother.
Yes. Send me your syllabus and we'll start with what your course covers.
Tutoring on concepts and practice problems is generally fine, but policies on graded work vary by course. I don't complete graded assignments. Check your syllabus's collaboration policy, and if you're unsure, ask your professor.
Tell me your course and what isn’t clicking. I’ll tell you honestly whether I can help.
