High school · Boston and New England

Finance tutoring for high school students in Boston and New England.

Massachusetts doesn't require a personal finance course to graduate, so plenty of strong students reach college without ever learning how interest, credit, or investing work. Others are taking AP Business with Personal Finance in its first years. Either way, I work from whatever your student's class uses.

What we work on.

Bring your slides, problem sets, and your last midterm. We work from your actual course.

AP course

AP® Business with Personal Finance

The newest AP course, with the first exam in May 2027. I've mapped all 5 units and 31 topics and built 940 practice questions.

Private and boarding schools

Independent school electives

Many independent schools teach their own economics and finance electives instead of AP courses. We work from your student's actual syllabus.

Advanced students

Corporate finance, early

Students aiming for top business programs or investment competitions can start corporate finance now: time value of money, valuation, and how companies decide what to invest in. It's the same material I teach college and MBA students.

Where students get stuck.

No required course

Without a statewide requirement, finance often gets squeezed into a short unit or skipped. Students feel it later in college economics and business classes.

Packed schedules

Between classes, sports, and activities, days are full. Zoom sessions fit into evenings or weekends in Eastern time, from home or from campus.

Interest and credit math

Compound interest, loans, and credit card costs look simple until a problem stacks two of them together. We practice until the setup is automatic.

For parents

Parents usually book, and your student joins on Zoom from home or from campus, whether that's Boston, Wellesley, Newton, the Cape, or a boarding school anywhere in New England. Send me the course, the school, and what's giving your student trouble, and I'll tell you honestly whether I can help.

How a session works

Diagnosis first. Then the fix.

  1. 01

    Before we meet

Send me what you're stuck on: a problem set, slides, your last midterm, a practice exam, last week's quiz.

  2. 02

    On Zoom

You walk me through a problem out loud. It usually takes a few minutes to hear where the reasoning goes sideways. We fix that piece and rebuild from there, so you know why each step works.

  3. 03

    Before we finish

The real test: a fresh problem with new numbers and different wording, the way a midterm would ask it, and you solve it yourself. I don't complete assignments or hand over answers. You leave able to do the work.

Questions

Before you book.

Do you work with boarding school students?

Yes. Sessions are on Zoom, so students can join from campus. We schedule around study hours and sports.

My student's school doesn't offer AP Business. Can you still help?

Yes. We can work on the finance in their economics or business elective, or build a foundation before college.

Will tutoring get in the way of my student's teacher?

No. I work from the teacher's materials and never complete graded work, so sessions support the class instead of replacing it.
