IB Economics, diagram by diagram.
IB Economics rewards students who can draw the right diagram, explain it, and then judge a policy with real data. Many students know the theory and still lose marks on how they use it. I tutored IB students in grad school and hold a master's degree in international economics and finance, and we work from your student's own class.

Where students get stuck.
Diagrams without the story
A diagram earns marks when every shift is labeled and explained in the answer. We practice drawing and explaining together until it's automatic.
Evaluation
The top marks go to students who weigh a policy's costs, who it helps, and over what time frame. That's a skill you can learn, and we drill it.
The HL numbers
HL Paper 3 is a policy paper worth 30% of the HL grade, with calculations built in. Students who freeze on the math lose marks they understood.
For parents
Parents usually book. Send me your student's level, the unit they're on, and when their exams are. Your student joins on Zoom at a time that works in your time zone, and we work from their own class notes.
Diagnosis first. Then the fix.
- 01
Before we meet
Send me what you're stuck on: a problem set, slides, your last midterm, a practice exam, last week's quiz.
- 02
On Zoom
You walk me through a problem out loud. It usually takes a few minutes to hear where the reasoning goes sideways. We fix that piece and rebuild from there, so you know why each step works.
- 03
Before we finish
The real test: a fresh problem with new numbers and different wording, the way a midterm would ask it, and you solve it yourself. I don't complete assignments or hand over answers. You leave able to do the work.

Studied it. Worked in it. Now I teach it.
I’m Chi Odogwu. I have a B.S. in Business with a finance specialization from Liberty University, earned summa cum laude in three years, and a Master’s in International Economics and Finance from Brandeis. I tutored IB students in grad school, did valuation and private equity consulting at PwC, taught MBA finance at Florida State, and spent three years as an adjunct professor teaching Business Finance.
Before you book.
Do you tutor both SL and HL?
Yes. Both levels take Paper 1 and Paper 2 and write the internal assessment. HL adds Paper 3. Sessions match what your student's level is assessed on.
Can you help with the IA commentaries?
I can explain the economics behind an article and help a student check their own reasoning. The portfolio of three commentaries has to be the student's own work, so I don't write or edit it.
When should we start before the May exams?
Earlier is better. A weekly session through the final year keeps gaps small, and a few focused sessions in the spring still help if they go after the right topics.
Is tutoring allowed under my school's honor code?
Tutoring on concepts and practice problems is generally fine, but policies on graded work vary by course. I don't complete graded assignments. Check your syllabus's collaboration policy, and if you're unsure, ask your professor.
Bring the problem you’re stuck on.
Tell me your course and what isn’t clicking. I’ll tell you honestly whether I can help.
