Many Manhattan independent schools write their own economics and finance electives instead of following AP. We work from your student's syllabus, not a generic textbook.
Manhattan students carry some of the heaviest schedules in the country, and finance usually lands on top of everything else. New York now requires personal finance instruction for students starting ninth grade in 2026 to 2027, and independent schools teach their own versions. I work from whatever your student's class actually uses.

Instruction begins in the 2026 to 2027 school year. It's an instructional requirement, not a separate credit, so how deep it goes depends on the school.
The newest AP course, with the first exam in May 2027. I've mapped all 5 units and 31 topics and built 940 practice questions.
Students home from Columbia, NYU Stern, Wharton, and schools across the country often bring their hardest class with them. Winter break and summer are the best time to fix corporate finance before the next exam, and I teach it at the level their course expects.
Between classes, test prep, and activities, there's no spare hour to reteach a whole unit. Sessions go straight at the one idea that's missing.
Students on investment teams hit valuation and portfolio questions before any class covers them. We make sure they can explain the finance in their own words.
Discounting shows up in AP Business, economics electives, and every college finance class. Once it clicks, most of the rest follows.
Parents usually book. Your student joins on Zoom after school or on weekends, from the Upper East Side, the Upper West Side, Tribeca, or a summer house out east. Send me the course, the school, and what's giving your student trouble, and I'll tell you honestly whether I can help.
Send me what you're stuck on: a problem set, slides, your last midterm, a practice exam, last week's quiz.
You walk me through a problem out loud. It usually takes a few minutes to hear where the reasoning goes sideways. We fix that piece and rebuild from there, so you know why each step works.
The real test: a fresh problem with new numbers and different wording, the way a midterm would ask it, and you solve it yourself. I don't complete assignments or hand over answers. You leave able to do the work.

I’m Chi Odogwu. I have a B.S. in Business with a finance specialization from Liberty University, earned summa cum laude in three years, and a Master’s in International Economics and Finance from Brandeis. I tutored IB students in grad school, did valuation and private equity consulting at PwC, taught MBA finance at Florida State, and spent three years as an adjunct professor teaching Business Finance.
No. Every session is on Zoom, which means no travel time, easy scheduling around activities, and the same tutor whether your student is home, at school, or away for the summer.
Yes. Public, specialized, and independent schools all teach finance differently, and I work from the student's own class.
No. I work from the teacher's materials and never complete graded work, so sessions support the class instead of replacing it.
Tutoring on concepts and practice problems is generally fine, but policies on graded work vary by course. I don't complete graded assignments. Check your syllabus's collaboration policy, and if you're unsure, ask your professor.
Tell me your course and what isn’t clicking. I’ll tell you honestly whether I can help.
