Florida · Palm Beach

Private finance tutoring for families in Palm Beach, Jupiter, and Boca Raton.

Florida requires a half credit in personal financial literacy for students who entered ninth grade in 2023 to 2024 or later. For many families who've moved here, it's the first time their student has had a required finance class at all.

Florida

The personal financial literacy credit

A half credit in personal financial literacy and money management, required for public high school students who entered ninth grade in 2023 to 2024 or later.

Local schools

The Benjamin School, Saint Andrew's, The King's Academy, Palm Beach Day, Oxbridge

Independent schools here set their own business and finance courses. We work from your student's own class.

AP course

AP® Business with Personal Finance

The newest AP course, with the first exam in May 2027. I've mapped all 5 units and 31 topics and built 940 practice questions.

Home from college

Corporate finance over break

Students home from college often bring their hardest class with them. Winter break and summer are the best time to fix corporate finance before the next exam, and I teach it at the level their course expects.

Palm Beach · Florida

Where students get stuck.

New school, new course

Students who moved from another state often land in a finance course that assumes things they were never taught. We fill in the gap quickly.

Taxes and insurance

Florida's course covers taxes, insurance, and contracts, topics most teenagers have never touched. We make them practical.

Investing

Saving and investing come up in the course and at home. We teach risk and return with real numbers.

For parents

Parents usually book, and your student joins on Zoom from Palm Beach, Jupiter, Boca Raton, or anywhere in South Florida, including families here for the season. Send me the course and what's giving your student trouble, and I'll tell you honestly whether I can help.

How a session works

Diagnosis first. Then the fix.

  1. 01

    Before we meet

Send me what you're stuck on: a problem set, slides, your last midterm, a practice exam, last week's quiz.

  2. 02

    On Zoom

You walk me through a problem out loud. It usually takes a few minutes to hear where the reasoning goes sideways. We fix that piece and rebuild from there, so you know why each step works.

  3. 03

    Before we finish

The real test: a fresh problem with new numbers and different wording, the way a midterm would ask it, and you solve it yourself. I don't complete assignments or hand over answers. You leave able to do the work.

Questions

Before you book.

We split the year between Florida and the Northeast. Does that matter?

No. Sessions are on Zoom, so they continue wherever your student is.

Does the Florida credit apply to private schools?

The requirement covers public high schools. Private schools choose their own courses, and I can help with those too.

Will tutoring get in the way of my student's teacher?

No. I work from the teacher's materials and never complete graded work, so sessions support the class instead of replacing it.

Is tutoring allowed under my school's honor code?

Tutoring on concepts and practice problems is generally fine, but policies on graded work vary by course. I don't complete graded assignments. Check your syllabus's collaboration policy, and if you're unsure, ask your professor.
