Connecticut's personal finance requirement
A half-credit personal financial management and financial literacy course, required to graduate from public high school beginning with the class of 2027.
Starting with the class of 2027, Connecticut public high school students need a half-credit course in personal financial management to graduate. It covers banking, saving, investing, and how credit and debit cards really work, and each district builds its own version.

The newest AP course, with the first exam in May 2027. I've mapped all 5 units and 31 topics and built 940 practice questions.
Students aiming for top business programs or investment competitions can start corporate finance now: time value of money, valuation, and how companies decide what to invest in. It's the same material I teach college and MBA students.
The state sets the topics, and each district writes its own course. We work from your student's actual materials, whatever the district chose.
Growth over time is the idea students underestimate most. Once they see the math, saving and investing questions get much easier.
Interest, minimum payments, and credit scores are easy to mix up. We make each one concrete with real examples.
Parents usually book, and your student joins on Zoom from Greenwich, Darien, New Canaan, Westport, or anywhere in the state. Send me the course, the school, and what's giving your student trouble, and I'll tell you honestly whether I can help.
Send me what you're stuck on: a problem set, slides, your last midterm, a practice exam, last week's quiz.
You walk me through a problem out loud. It usually takes a few minutes to hear where the reasoning goes sideways. We fix that piece and rebuild from there, so you know why each step works.
The real test: a fresh problem with new numbers and different wording, the way a midterm would ask it, and you solve it yourself. I don't complete assignments or hand over answers. You leave able to do the work.

The law covers public high schools. Many private schools teach their own finance or economics courses, and I can help with those too.
Yes. Students who want more can move on to AP Business or start corporate finance before college.
No. I work from the teacher's materials and never complete graded work, so sessions support the class instead of replacing it.
