Finance and business tutoring for families in Dubai.

Dubai's American schools run two tracks at once. Students take AP courses, the IB Diploma in their last two years, or a mix of both. Business and economics are where the numbers start to count, and I work from whatever your student's class actually uses.

The courses

What we work on.

Bring your slides, problem sets, and your last midterm. We work from your actual course.

Local schools

Dunecrest, American School of Dubai, GEMS Dubai American Academy, Universal American School

Dunecrest teaches the American curriculum with the IB Diploma in Grades 11 and 12. Other schools here offer AP economics, IB Economics, IB Business Management, or several of them. We work from your student's course.

IB Diploma

IB Business Management and IB Economics

SL and HL. Finance and accounts, Paper 2 numbers, and the research project in Business Management. Diagrams, data response, and the HL policy paper in Economics.

American curriculum

AP® Business with Personal Finance

The newest AP course, with the first exam in May 2027. If your student's school adds it, I've already mapped all 5 units and 31 topics and built 940 practice questions.

University

Corporate finance, before or during university

Many students here leave for universities in the US, the UK, and Canada. Corporate finance and financial statements before the first year make business and economics degrees much easier. It's the same material I teach college and MBA students.

Where students get stuck.

AP and IB in the same week

Students mixing AP and IB courses carry two exam styles at once. Sessions go straight at the topic that's slipping instead of reteaching a whole unit.

Paper 2 numbers

Ratios, cash flow forecasts, and investment appraisal are where IB Business Management grades drop. We practice them until the setup is automatic.

Heading to a business degree

Students bound for business or economics programs abroad do better when they've seen time value of money and financial statements before they arrive.

For parents

Parents usually book. Your student joins on Zoom from home in Dubai, after school on weekdays or any time on Saturday and Sunday. Sessions are scheduled in Gulf Standard Time. Send me the course, the level, and what's giving your student trouble, and I'll tell you honestly whether I can help.

How a session works

Diagnosis first. Then the fix.

  1. 01

    Before we meet

Send me what you're stuck on: a problem set, slides, your last midterm, a practice exam, last week's quiz.

  2. 02

    On Zoom

You walk me through a problem out loud. It usually takes a few minutes to hear where the reasoning goes sideways. We fix that piece and rebuild from there, so you know why each step works.

  3. 03

    Before we finish

The real test: a fresh problem with new numbers and different wording, the way a midterm would ask it, and you solve it yourself. I don't complete assignments or hand over answers. You leave able to do the work.

Questions

Before you book.

What time zone are sessions in?

Gulf Standard Time (UTC+4). Sessions run on weekday evenings after school, plus Saturdays and Sundays.

Do you tutor in person in Dubai?

No. Every session is on Zoom, so there's no traffic, no travel time, and the same tutor during term, over the holidays, or while your family travels in the summer.

What does a session cost in local currency?

Sessions are $250 an hour, billed in US dollars. At the fixed exchange rates that's about AED 918, SAR 938, or QAR 910.

Will tutoring get in the way of my student's teacher?

No. I work from the teacher's materials and never complete graded work, so sessions support the class instead of replacing it.

Is tutoring allowed under my school's honor code?

Tutoring on concepts and practice problems is generally fine, but policies on graded work vary by course. I don't complete graded assignments. Check your syllabus's collaboration policy, and if you're unsure, ask your professor.
