FIN 302 · Fundamentals of Finance
The basic tools and concepts in finance. A B or better is required to major in finance.
FIN 302 is the core finance class at Miami Herbert, and it's also the gate to the finance major: you need a B or better to declare. That makes the grade matter more than it does in most intro courses.

Financial decision-making by corporations, building on FIN 302.
A C won't get you into the major. If you're sitting near the line after the first midterm, that's the time to fix the gaps.
It's the base for bonds, stocks, and capital budgeting. Students who rush it pay for it on every exam after.
Knowing the formula isn't the hard part. Reading the problem and knowing which number goes where is.
Send me what you're stuck on: a problem set, slides, your last midterm, a practice exam, last week's quiz.
You walk me through a problem out loud. It usually takes a few minutes to hear where the reasoning goes sideways. We fix that piece and rebuild from there, so you know why each step works.
The real test: a fresh problem with new numbers and different wording, the way a midterm would ask it, and you solve it yourself. I don't complete assignments or hand over answers. You leave able to do the work.

I’m Chi Odogwu. I have a B.S. in Business with a finance specialization from Liberty University, earned summa cum laude in three years, and a Master’s in International Economics and Finance from Brandeis. I tutored IB students in grad school, did valuation and private equity consulting at PwC, taught MBA finance at Florida State, and spent three years as an adjunct professor teaching Business Finance.
I can't promise a grade, but we'll find exactly what's costing you points and work on it until you can do those problems yourself.
Yes. We can work on FIN 303 or any other finance course you're taking.
Tutoring on concepts and practice problems is generally fine, but policies on graded work vary by course. I don't complete graded assignments. Check your syllabus's collaboration policy, and if you're unsure, ask your professor.
Tell me your course and what isn’t clicking. I’ll tell you honestly whether I can help.
