Free personal finance courses and curriculum for high school

If you want to learn the whole subject in order, start with a full course. These programs cover budgeting, banking, credit, taxes, investing and paying for college, and several run on their own without a teacher.

Three first steps

  1. Pick one course instead of sampling five, so you finish it.
  2. Choose a course marked as not needing a teacher account if you are learning at home.
  3. Set a weekly goal of two lessons and write down one decision each lesson changed.

Questions

Quick answers.

Can I use these without a teacher?

Many can be used alone. Some require a free instructor account, and each card here says when that is the case.

Are they enough for a school personal finance requirement?

Requirements vary by state and school. Ask your teacher what counts, and use a full course as practice either way.

When a free resource is not enough

Help from a tutor who explains it clearly.

I tutor personal finance and AP Business with Personal Finance one-on-one on Zoom, for students and with parents in the loop. Bring the assignment or the practice test you missed, and we work from that.
