Economics and Personal Finance
Economics basics plus budgeting, banking, credit, saving, investing and insurance. With no state test, the grade comes from the class, so steady homework and quiz scores matter.
Virginia's Standard and Advanced Studies diplomas both require one credit in Economics and Personal Finance, and Prince William County Public Schools lists it as a graduation requirement. I tutor that course, AP Business with Personal Finance and college finance, one-on-one over Zoom.

A student who has already worked through a pay stub, a budget and a loan payment walks into the required course with a head start. A few sessions over the summer is plenty.
College Board's newest AP course, with the first exam in May 2027. I tutor the subject whether or not your student's school offers the course yet.
Students home from Virginia Tech, UVA, George Mason, James Madison or anywhere else often bring their hardest class with them. Break is the best time to fix it.
What a student studies in finance depends on the school and the state. Checked November 5, 2026.
Virginia's Standards of Accreditation require one credit in Economics and Personal Finance for both the Standard and the Advanced Studies diploma, for students who entered ninth grade in 2018 to 2019 or later. The course has no state Standards of Learning test attached. The PWCS course catalog lists Economics and Personal Finance, with a virtual course component included, in the requirements for both diplomas.

Put $2,000 in an account that earns 4% a year and leave it alone. After 10 years it's worth $2,960.49, so $960.49 of that is interest, and the last year's interest alone is more than the first year's. Run the same math on a credit card balance and the direction flips, which is why students remember it.
Simple interest is one line of math. Compound interest, credit card APR and loan payments stack the same idea, and that stacking is where grades usually slip.
What moves a credit score, what a car loan really costs, and why paying only the minimum takes years. We do the math with real numbers, not definitions.
Supply and demand, inflation and interest rates sit in the same course as budgeting. Tying each idea to a real price or paycheck makes the economics half stick.
Parents usually book. Your student joins on Zoom from home after school or on a weekend, with no drive on I-95, Route 28 or I-66. We're on Eastern time. Send me the course, the school and what's giving your student trouble, and I'll tell you honestly whether I can help.
Send me what you're stuck on: a problem set, slides, your last midterm, a practice exam, last week's quiz.
You walk me through a problem out loud. It usually takes a few minutes to hear where the reasoning goes sideways. We fix that piece and rebuild from there, so you know why each step works.
The real test: a fresh problem with new numbers and different wording, the way a midterm would ask it, and you solve it yourself. I don't complete assignments or hand over answers. You leave able to do the work.

No. Every session is on Zoom, so there's no travel and scheduling fits around practice, work and activities. We're on the same Eastern time zone.
No. The course carries a standard credit with no verified credit, so there is no Standards of Learning test. The grade comes from the class itself.
Virginia applies the requirements in effect when a student first enters ninth grade. The rule described here covers students who entered in 2018 to 2019 or later.
The requirement we cite is for Virginia public school diplomas. Ask your student's school which course they take, and we'll work from that course and its syllabus.
Ask the school. The course is brand new for 2026 to 2027 and each school decides whether to offer it. I tutor the subject either way, including students studying for the exam on their own.
No. I work from the teacher's materials and never complete graded work, so sessions support the class instead of replacing it.
Tutoring on concepts and practice problems is generally fine, but policies on graded work vary by course. I don't complete graded assignments. Check your syllabus's collaboration policy, and if you're unsure, ask your professor.
Tell me your course and what isn’t clicking. I’ll tell you honestly whether I can help.
