Where students get stuck.

Four named areas, one chain

Cost of capital, investment decisions, asset management, and raising funds are the catalog's four headline topics. They link: how a firm raises money sets its cost, which sets what projects clear the bar. We draw that chain so each topic has a reason.

Taking it alongside accounting and statistics

Because Accounting 312 and Statistics 301 can run at the same time, you may meet finance ideas before the supporting courses explain them. We fill those gaps as they come up.

Letter grade, no repeating

The catalog says the course is not repeatable for credit, which raises the stakes on a first attempt. We find the gaps early.

Who takes FIN 357

FIN 357 is listed as required in McCombs BBA degree plans, and it's restricted to McCombs students. Your degree plan shows how it applies to your major.

How a session works

Diagnosis first. Then the fix.

  1. 01

    Before we meet

Send me what you're stuck on: a problem set, slides, your last midterm, a practice exam, last week's quiz.

  2. 02

    On Zoom

You walk me through a problem out loud. It usually takes a few minutes to hear where the reasoning goes sideways. We fix that piece and rebuild from there, so you know why each step works.

  3. 03

    Before we finish

The real test: a fresh problem with new numbers and different wording, the way a midterm would ask it, and you solve it yourself. I don't complete assignments or hand over answers. You leave able to do the work.
