Three credits. The catalog describes basic concepts of finance related to decision making.
A C or better in ECON 221 or 224, a C or better in ACCT 225 or RETL 261, and a C or better in one of STAT 201, 205, 206, 509, 511, 515, or MATH 511.
The catalog lists FINA 363 in other programs too, including a Mathematics B.S. track that pairs it with FINA 469, 471, and 475.
If the economics or statistics prerequisite is a few terms behind you, the time value of money guide is a gentle way back into the numbers before the first lecture.
Bring your slides, problem sets, and your last midterm. We work from your actual course.
Three prerequisites each need a C or better, so a shaky grade in one can delay the whole course. If you are retaking or catching up, we can prep the finance ideas before the term starts.
The description is short and broad. In practice that means every topic ends with a choice, such as which project to take or how to fund it. We practice stating the choice clearly.
Students from mathematics and other programs bring strong skills and little vocabulary. We translate the finance terms quickly so the math you already know can do the work.
FINA 363 is the introductory finance course in the South Carolina catalog and appears in business and some non-business degree plans. Your advisor can tell you where it fits.
Send me what you're stuck on: a problem set, slides, your last midterm, a practice exam, last week's quiz.
You walk me through a problem out loud. It usually takes a few minutes to hear where the reasoning goes sideways. We fix that piece and rebuild from there, so you know why each step works.
The real test: a fresh problem with new numbers and different wording, the way a midterm would ask it, and you solve it yourself. I don't complete assignments or hand over answers. You leave able to do the work.

The catalog asks for a C or better in each of the economics, accounting, and statistics requirements.
The catalog lists it in some non-business programs, so it can be part of your plan. Confirm with your advisor.
The catalog description is brief, so details depend on your section. Bring your syllabus and we work from it.
Tutoring on concepts and practice problems is generally fine, but policies on graded work vary by course. I don't complete graded assignments. Check your syllabus's collaboration policy, and if you're unsure, ask your professor.
Tell me your course and what isn’t clicking. I’ll tell you honestly whether I can help.
